Prototype Socks

Prototype Socks
Originally uploaded by nanodudek
I learned how to knit socks during a three hour workshop at my local yarn store. The instructor had a pattern that was so concise that I was able to cast on and finish one tiny sock in three hours. I went home and knit the matching sock in order to practice all the elements and design features necessary to knit a sock. This pair has lotsa mistakes, but I am pleased as pie with my little socks!

Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cashmerino

Freedom and Creativity

Why do bloggers blog?

We blog for many reasons, but the nucleus of blogging is freedom. Bloggers can write anything, anytime, without editing, without censorship, without fear. When we write, we escape, and that special escape is a different brand of freedom that bloggers enjoy.

My secret experience is that having complete freedom to write what I want, whenever I want, is strangely oppressive.

Why is it that when I have the freedom to escape I am crippled by a blank blog, but when I have to compose on demand for my employer, I can spit out anything?

Waffle Hat

Waffle Hat

My first knitting project of the season is complete!

This hat is full of mistakes, but I have decided not to take my hobby too seriously and live with the self-inflicted errors in my life.

I love the brown/purple/orange colors, and this hat matches perfectly with the Autumn leaves in Canada. Not to mention the cashmere is lux, extremely soft and toasty warm.

Coming next....the Prototype Sock.
